31 Weeks Pregnant - The Size of a Coconut
Congratulations on reaching 31 weeks! You’re now in the final stretch of your pregnancy, with just nine weeks left until your due date.
Hi Mum,
Congratulations on reaching 31 weeks! You’re now in the final stretch of your pregnancy, with just nine weeks left until your due date. Can you believe it? It probably feels like time is speeding up now, and the excitement of meeting your little one is building with every day. Let’s take a look at what’s happening this week.
Your baby is now about the size of a coconut, measuring around 40 centimeters and weighing roughly 3.5 pounds. This rapid growth will continue, with baby gaining around half a pound each week. Though the visible changes may not be as dramatic as earlier weeks, their brain is working overtime, developing connections between nerve cells. They’re now able to process information, respond to light, and are even receiving signals from all five senses. It’s incredible to think that your baby is preparing to understand the world that awaits them!
In the meantime, baby is also spending a lot of time practicing facial expressions, wiggling around, and taking in everything their developing body can offer. The thought of them preparing, almost instinctively, to join you in the outside world is such a beautiful and complex process.
As baby grows, you’re likely feeling the changes too. It’s a good time to pamper yourself if you can. Many women find that a pregnancy massage is an amazing way to relieve the aches and pains that come with carrying an ever-growing baby. Treating yourself to a fresh haircut or just taking time to relax can do wonders for your well-being.
This is also a good time to think about practical preparations, not just for baby but for you too. As your belly gets bigger and your energy levels fluctuate, remember to ask for help when you need it, and try to rest whenever possible. It's easy to get caught up in preparing everything for the baby, but don't forget that you're about to go through one of the most transformative experiences of your life. Take a moment for yourself.
By now, your baby’s movements are likely strong and regular. Feeling those little kicks and jabs can be an amazing reminder of the life growing inside of you. Many partners find it easier to bond with the baby at this stage as they can feel the kicks too. It’s such a special time to share those moments together.
As you move through these final weeks, remember that every small step you take is a significant part of the journey toward meeting your baby. Take time to reflect on how far you've come and how beautifully you’re preparing for what’s next.
Warmly,
Ecco
