33 Weeks Pregnant - The Size of a Pineapple
You’re now 33 weeks pregnant! Another week closer to meeting your little one. Let’s see what’s happening in your womb this week and how both you and baby are doing.
You’re now 33 weeks pregnant, and each day brings you closer to meeting your little one. As the anticipation builds, let’s explore what’s happening with your baby this week and how you’re preparing for their arrival.
At this point, your baby weighs just over 4 pounds and measures around 43 centimetres. Picture a pineapple, and you’ve got a good sense of their size this week. As your baby continues to grow, their movements might feel more intense because the amniotic fluid has reached its peak, leaving less room for baby to move around. Every kick, stretch, and wiggle is a reminder that your little one is getting stronger and closer to being ready for the world.
Another fascinating development is that your baby’s brain is firing on all cylinders now. With more connections forming each day, they’re not only practicing movements but also experiencing REM sleep, meaning they may be dreaming. It’s remarkable to think that while still inside the womb, your baby’s brain is preparing for all the sensory experiences awaiting them.
As your baby prepares for life outside the womb, your body is also getting ready. By now, you may have experienced Braxton Hicks contractions, those gentle practice contractions that help your body prepare for labor. They’re usually not painful, but they can feel a bit uncomfortable. If they become more regular or intense, it’s always a good idea to check with your midwife, just in case your baby is ready to make an early entrance!
Have you started packing your hospital bag yet? If not, now’s a great time to get it ready. Many parents-to-be aim to have their bag packed by 36 weeks, but there’s no harm in being prepared early. From baby’s first outfit to your comfy clothes, having everything ready brings peace of mind as the big day approaches. It’s one less thing to worry about, and it makes those last few weeks feel a little more manageable.
At this stage, your baby is taking up quite a bit of space, which might leave you feeling a bit breathless or dealing with some heartburn. It’s all part of your body accommodating their rapid growth. Remember to rest when you can, and don’t hesitate to ask for help if you need it, ƒwhether it’s running errands or simply getting some extra rest.
With only a few weeks to go, every day brings you closer to that magical moment of meeting your baby. Try to savor these last weeks, even though they may come with a mix of excitement, discomfort, and anticipation. You’re doing an incredible job, and soon, all the waiting will be worth it.
Warmly,
Ecco
